Hiding wall tiles??

Hi
I have just moved into a flat and the kitchen has some old discusting tiles on 2 of the walls (floor to celing), and then nicer tiles over the top of these (on the two walls), splashback height, and on the other walls also. Is there a solution to cover/hide these tiles cheaply without removing them and having to have the walls made good??
Thanks
Carl

Tile Paint.
Check with LL or LA first and make sure that you have permission, preferably in writing, or they could make you pay a LOT of money if/when you leave, to make good."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
I had a similar problem in my bathroom. I covered over the floor to ceiling tiles with sheets of plywood (marine ply as it was a bathroom) with beading to finish the edges. Then lined and wallpapered it. Looks very good.
You could also paint them. Use a tile primer and then ordinary eggshell paint in the same colour as the emulsion on the rest of your walls (go to somewhere that mixes paints to get exactly the same colours). There are a number of other threads here on how to get a good finish when you paint tiles. That should make the tiles 'disappear'.0
