MY dd no 2 went through 18 months of continual ear and throat infections , sometimes it seemed as though she would get 2 to 3 weeks at school and she would be off again. I am an advocate of metatone tonic , she did quite well on it for a while . I would send dd to school on the days that I thought she was ok and often school would ring for me to please come and get her , she is not well. I went down the route of are you being bullied etc , but she was genuinly ill .I think you as his mother know when or not he is ill , follow your instincts. Years later when dd went for medical for job she was told your eardrums are so scarred they like a jigsaw , you must have had lots of ear infections.:hello:What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -

she's got a job and has to take time off when he's off ill - i hardly think she'd do that if he was mucking about!
hopefully he'll start to get better soon, and if there is an underlying problem then having school worried about his attendance might mean it gets taken more seriously and he gets a referral/tests/etc.'bad mothers club' member 13

ME or chronic fatigue syndrome or post-viral ME are very hard to diganose... infact many still argue about it and some still don't recognise it as an illness but use it to describe any excessive fatigue which cannot be explained any other way so it's diagnosed by elimination. There is no known cure. Some gradually recover, some do not. I had post viral fatigue syndrome (so I am told) but I overcame it. I still get relapses especilly after illnesses - I find it very hard to recover and my imune system seems weaker than other peoples.
Unless she gets out of bed and just the action of walking downstairs exhausts him to the point of needing hours of sleep after taking a shower (I would get up in the morning after a full nights sleep and be on the verge of fallign asleep at the wheel of my car 10 minutes later from exhaustion... at which point I realised it was time to see my GP... and no I didn't drive myself) then I am pretty sure you're not looking at ME
Because ME is impossible to diagnose with 100% certainty then a lot of teenagers seem to be "suffering" from it... particularly some who do not want to attend school
OP I think some vitamins and lots of home cooked food with lots of veg and fresh fruit will do him a world of good
I found that the more healthy I got, excercise & food, the easier I find it beating of infections and illnesses. I'm not saying your son isn't eating healthy but just something else that might help boost his immune system
Ultimately some people are just more prone than others, if that is the case the not much you can do about it...

I remember when I was about 11. I had chickenpox, followed by German Measles. After that had passed I was just plain knackered. The doctor said I was 'run down' (his words). All in all I was off for about 2 months, only going back for a few days before being ill again.
All these illnesses might be making your son feel the same way. Poor lad. Btw 2 of my son's have had their tonsils out as they were ill every month. They both got them out before they started school though.0 -
Hi Victory
Hope your son feels better soon
I would do what an earlier post suggested, send him to school and if they think he is ill, they will send him home. Then at least you have that angle covered. Then if something comes of this letter, you have that to back you up!
My son had a rash on his face over the week end (impetigo is going round), I immediately thought it was that. I looked for pics on the internet and it looked nothing like it. I presume it was rash from the cold weather, So plenty of e45 cream has helped. I sent him to school today with a letter (to cover myself) to say if they think differently, then call. I never had a call ! So left it that.
Fingers cross for you that nothin will happen ref this letter. But like you've attended the doctor's, that will also back you up!
You covered every angle so I wouldn't dwell on it too much, perhaps suggest with the school that you collect some light "work" for him to do at home, that way, he wont fall behind! I always do this if any of mine are off, but the teachers say NO, they need the time off to receover, so I say well make a note please that I requested! Again, covering my back!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
THE_LONE_RANGER wrote:do be so stupid ,she will be asked these quistions if she does not get him to school his attendance is awfull she stated that with the figures she has given the education people will not believe he is that ill all the time and will check him out and see what the problem is . kids swing the led and if mummy and daddy fall for it long term problems will follow instead of coming on here she should get him to the school or the doctors .

Has he had glandular fever at all? When I was in school one of my friends had it and for about 18 months aftre she did't fully recover and got everything that went round, even between illnesses she was tired constantly. Doctor said it was because the glandular fever had given her system such a knock that it would taken ages for it to recover.0
