I see these T&Cs all the time, but have never had an experience where I've had something sent by one of these buyers that didn't turn up. Has anyone ever had a direct experience of a INR with one of these sellers, and how did the seller react/what did they do?

The terms and conditions are meaningless - the seller is responsible for getting the item to you. In the first instance if you have an issue, let the seller resolve it, if they refuse, you proceed with the dispute in the normal way - your eBay buyer protection is unaffected by the seller's terms and conditions.

I agree with delta, just proceed exactly as you would with any seller. Ask outright for a refund as item has nto been receievd(assuming time frame is appropriate) and if they say no or refer to their t and cs then go straight to a paypal INR.

I think a lot of these sellers lose out because buyers see that statement and go straight to an INR without contacting seller first, so their seller metrics suffer- but I do think it worth a quick line to seller first.

Yup - sadly a lot of sellers just copycat other seller terms and think they're protecting themselves with these terms.

But the terms are meaningless as buyer protection trumps them, and it ends up harming the seller because a buyer is more likely to head straight for a dispute if they feel the seller will try to shirk responsibility.

I think the original OP knows that , looks to me they are just interested to see how a seller acts when they find out their fake t&c`s are meaningless....

Well the last time i had this scenario was a while ago- but I asked for a refund, and selelr immediately referred to their terms and conditions so I opened a full paypal dispute. Seller then just got silly, emailing me all the time saying that they had spoken to ebay and ebay had told them categorically that they were allowed to make that statement so I HAD to close my disptue., When I failed to repond they started emailing every few hours saying that I was going to get into lots of trouble if I didn't close the dispute as ebay told the seller they would suspend me- I ignored them.

They even told me at one point that dispute was closed and that they wouldn't neg me as ebay told them I was going to be suspended anyway.

Dispute closed later in my favour I got a full refund and they elft a false positive which I got removed immediately. I then left them a neg, hammered their stars and made a complaint against them.

My only disputes have been with sellers without these type of terms. Many ebayers are reluctant to refund when they should. I was sent proof of postage by one, then had no further replies despite leaving 12 working days for the item to arrive. Returned a faulty item, and received a refund minus postage. Both had good feedabck, and had obviously never dealt with this before.
Poor sellers are lurking about, they just haven't had a problem yet. I tried to explain to both what the correct way to deal with it was, but no joy.

I understand the theory very well, having read many instances of this advice on this forum and elsewhere. I was just interested in hearing of other people's experiences of how these sorts of buyer/seller interactions tend to go in real life.

Sort of like how I'll never climb Mt Everest myself, but enjoy reading accounts of how other people did it.

Have never personally had an INR as a buyer (have been very lucky).

However each SNAD from a seller with silly terms I've won, despite various shoulder shrugging, and keyboard bashing from the sellers involved.

So where possible, I try to purchase from sellers with approachable listings and return policies - generally it means they know their stuff and respect their customers, and chances are the sale will be ok (=less time hassle and expense) and I won't have to bother them; and if I do, they'll treat me professionally.
