VERY quick plumbing question

I'm plumbing in a new toilet at the minute - do I need to put any silicone or adhesive in the joints on the waste pipe?
I'm using the plastic fittings you get in B&Q with the black rubber gasket / flange things between joints.
Thanks in advance!

A bit of vaseline around the waste seal will help and stop any potential leaks. No glue as the waste units have a few rubber seals that would not work properly if you did it. Enjoy the diy weekend......0

dont use vaseline as it's oil based. they should all slip together tightly without any lubricant but if you do need some use a silicone based product.
Do not use silicone sealant or glue though. the gaskets you mentioned in your post make the seal themselves.
btkAll advice given by thekid is in good faith but remember these important facts:- I'm lucky enough to live in Scotland(Scots Law may apply)...

Just asking, what would an oil based product do to this assembly??? I recommended it because I have used it myself and the toilets have been in place for the past 8 years. Thank you for advising.0

The oil based product may damage the rubber, IIRCA house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

I would just use a smear of washing up liquid.
Makes life a bit easier pushing them together0 -
ahm!
a bit of KY jelly:eek:0 -
You can always buy the proper silicone spray, but why waste a great excuse to carry ky?Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D0

I just fitted a toilet this evening using a Hepworth 'Fastfit' connector. The instructions said use only water as a lubricant, NOT grease. I don't know if the B&Q one is similar.0

I have used the fast fit connectors and have found that if you use any lubricant  other than water the connector tends to slide off cos its too slippery.......
Now lets get all the lubricant funnies over with quick................!!!!!
