Cavity insulation has caused damp - where do I stand?

I was lucky enough to have cavity wall insulation fitted under the grant scheme early this year. With all this bad weather we have been having I have discovered that they have left one of the drilled holes unfilled, and as a result my newly decorated room has a large damp patch which has now blistered the paint (it was admitedly only B&Q value, but it looked nice).
Firstly, I'm not sure how to best rectify the situation. Is it ok to fill the hole while the cavity is likely to still be damp?
Secondly, should I seek compensation from the company? I'm about to go onto a DMP and in all honesty finding the money to purchase a suitable filler is going to prove diffiicult - it'll have to come out of our food allowance. Secondly it has made a real mess of the wall - it's going to mean treating the damp patch and redecorating the two walls (damage is on a corner). Worse still is that I have a large desk fitted in this corner and it'll have to be moved(it'l probably need to be disassembled to be moved - not sure it'll then re-assemble). I feel quite sick at the thought of how much work it's going to involve (single mum of three boys).
I know this is a lot less than what some have had to deal with in this horrid weather, but I feel so bad about it. I had hoped to get the house into a saleable condition and maybe avoid the DMP, but it just seems one thing after the other :(

Hi Kaz, if you are certain that the damp was caused by faulty work on the cavity, then get in touch with the company that did the work and demand that they rectify it immediately.

Thank Avoriaz - I'm as sure as can be it was the work that caused it. I've been here 6 years and never had a problem in that room. The hole is about 1" diameter, but the wind has been driving the rain in that direction for the past few days. Talk about bad luck!
Will have to call them on Monday now,
    Thanks for your reply,

I had a similar problem with cavity wall insulation blocking an airbrick that caused damp. Complained to the company resulting in a survey being done. Surveyor said the blocked airbrick may have contributed but not conclusive. However, the company did pay me a contribution towards the work as it should have cleared the airbrick.

So its worth a try. Good luck ;) .
