Yellow line on sunday - 6 cars ticketed - any case for appeal?

Sorry to be the umpteenth person to ask whether they've got a case for appeal or not, but I would appreciate the clarification:
Today, on Sunday, my car and 6 other cars (not people I know) were given a parking ticket for parking on a yellow line.
Here is the sign that was at the end of the yellow line:
-
We were about the 5th car to park on the line. We were parked in the direction equivalent to the arrow pointing RIGHT in the picture.
Is there any basis for appeal using the argument that the sign is confusing, and that the top right section missing? The fact that 7 cars were parked on the line, and subsequently got tickets for it, indicates that the sign isn't completely clear, in my opinion.
Again, I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks.

I voted yes you have a case as it seems a sign is missing.
Best bet is to take a digital picture of the front and the back of the PCN (all the small-print, just cover the PCN number and the car reg). Then register and start a new thread with your pictures of PCN both sides, and the sign, on pepipoo:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
You would also need to show them the lines - was it a single yellow or a bay or what? Pepipoo posters will help you with this but do not add a poll to your new thread over there, just register and do a normal thread, asking your question, with all your pics shown.
Good luck.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for being helpful, and moreover so polite about it. I've registered and posted it over there now. Thanks.0

I know exactly where you were ticketed as you're right underneath my old flat! You've no hope of getting away with that. That road is a red route at the end (to the right of the sign) near the BP garage, and the single yellow is enforced every day through the rest of the street. Moreover, you're parked outside an NCP carpark, and alongside the B&Q carpark. There's simply no need to park on the street!
I lived there 5 years and would guess that 50 cars a day would get ticketted.
ETA - I don't know what you think is missing from that sign......... it's perfectly clear to me.
And as for not causing any problems/obstructions, I can promise you you were. Anyone coming out of the car park within the flat complex would struggle to see past your car to check for traffic before pulling out. Furthermore, on busy days, where people flock to B&Q and the refuse site, both lanes are needed to ensure the traffic flows. Narrowing that road regularly results in major traffic jams, which isn't pleasant for anyone - including the residents!Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

mildred1978 - Yeh, what's annoying is that we WERE parked in the B&Q car park.
The sign in the b&q car park said that it closes at 9:30pm, but then we noticed at 4pm that the entrance was blocked and we weren't sure exactly when the exit would be closed as well, so we moved it out around 4:30pm in case it closed early.0 -

It would have been much cheaper to use the NCP car park in the flat complex.
I assume you were using the gym or something.
PS - they never once shut the exit gates at B&Q in all the time I lived there.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

Hindsight is a great thing, sure. Obviously we thought there was no charge. If 50 people get caught every day there, surely that is evidence that the signs are NOT clear.mildred1978 wrote: »Anyone coming out of the car park within the flat complex would struggle to see past your car to check for traffic before pulling out. That road certainly wasn't very busy at all today, and the road itself is actually very wide. Even when we were parked there cars were going past with no problem. Also, regarding blocking the view of the people in the flat complex - how about the cars behind mine which also got tickets? If my car wasn't there, they couldn't possibly have blocked the view.0 -

I believe the sign, and the yellow single, double and red lines on that street are perfectly clear. It's not a place to park! That road certainly wasn't very busy at all today, and the road itself is actually very wide. Even when we were parked there cars were going past with no problem.
It's not 3 cars wide, especially when there are transit vans and trucks trying to get through. I lived there, I saw it every single day. Also, regarding blocking the view of the people in the flat complex - how about the cars behind mine which also got tickets? If my car wasn't there, they couldn't possibly have blocked the view.
Any car parked outside the gym blocks the view of cars coming out of the car park.
Didn't you wonder why the car park was there?Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

Sorry but you're wrong, the ENTRANCE to the car park is the closest to that yellow line. The exit is at least 10 metres away and so the cars couldn't possibly be obstructing the view. I checked on google maps.mildred1978 wrote: »Didn't you wonder why the car park was there?
No, I wonder why 50 people get ticketed every day if the signs are so obviously clear.
Anyway, thanks for your help.0 -
Here's the pic. The exit from the car park is bottom right of the pic. You were parked closer than the silver merc on the right outside the gym. Are you seriously telling me that at car level you'd have been able to see past you if exiting the car park?

I must have gone in and out of that car park at least 5000 times when I lived there, I have perfect vision, and I'm telling you it was a problem.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

Frankly? They're too tight to pay and/or they can't read roadsigns and lines and/or they think they'll get away with it.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
