I don't know what the usual price is but I saw it in Lidl last week at £1.49 if this helps. Is it nice, BTW? I like ginger flavour and ordinary ginger beer but have never tried this one.

    Thanks for that tip bcl999.

I don't drink this personally but the OH has about 8 bottles of the stuff over the weekend!

    I prefer ginger tea (warm).

Since you like ginger you will love it! It smells of very fresh ginger combined with the fizziness and alcohol kick it sounds great for you.

Will give it a go next time I see it on offer somehwere.

I remember, as a child, my uncle making make ginger wine (not beer) from a cordial concentrate every Christmas. God, it was horrible! Would burn the throat off you.

    BEWARE OF "EXPLODING" BOTTLES :rotfl:

Release the pressure frequently otherwise the tops may blow off and you'll lose some of the contents in a VERY MESSY event  (See comments)

It's Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's River Cottage version (plus MY variants)

    http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/ginger-beer-recipe

My modifications are to substitute either Orange or Lime for the Lemon ....

    And/Or

Use Demerara or Muscovado sugar in place of the caster (white) sugar and forget the honey.

You can drink it after just a few days, a few weeks or even a few months.
The taste changes a little the longer you leave it, the alcohol increases somewhat as does how clear the liquid ends up.
I've drank it as a cloudy "real old Somerset scrumpy" (rats and all) looking brew or a really clear golden "whisky" caramel coloured nectar.

I've even used a WINE SUPER YEAST and brewed some that was 16% ABV :D ....

and after a litre of that you really are :rotfl:

As for your original question ..... try http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk

Looks like a single 500ml bottle is anywhere between £1.75 and £2.04

However until 1st November you can get 4 for £5 at TESCO, which is significantly cheaper than any of the multi-packs

    What a faff! I'll stick to Aldi's 2litre bottle at 69p for my non-alcoholic version. (And it's low-cal.)

Thanks for the Tesco multibuy tip for the alcoholic version.
