I'm guessing the OP thinks that the posts he 'thanked' were constructive and the others weren't. They all look the same to me!
I could quite understand the OP thinking "I've tried to give them this money back twice now; they've told me they'll send me instructions on sending it back but they haven't; I'm fed up mithering about it; I'm going to put it somewhere safe and forget about it until the ask for it back".
However, that's a long way from "I'll spend somebody else's money, knowing that it's somebody else's". In the OP's shoes I'd be far more worried about whether I'd committed any criminal offences, and be doing everything I could to repay the money. (For the little it's worth I can't think of any criminal offences - I can't see that what the OP has done counts as theft - but it does seem that he's been basically dishonest. It wouldn't surprise me if there was an offence in there somewhere, and in OP's shoes that would be the bit exercising my mind).
Edit: crossposted with the OP. In that case, you should hopefully be able to stall them for a month or two. But you do need to keep them sweet if at all possible; you may well want a reference from them for the graduate role you're after.0 -
I think irritated is more accurate. And it spreads beyond those you criticise.Jobbobiwan wrote: »Wow loads of butt-hurt people on here. I asked what my options were not "please tell me how to avoid paying".
If you post a problem and you dislike the answer, you are free to argue and disagree. It is also OK to say who you found helpful. It is even fairly OK to say that specific posts did not really address your issue.
But when posters say things like "To the people who made constructive replies...thanks" and imply the opposite for the other posts, you start to get backs up, because the basic rule is that you accept the rough with the smooth.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I will post the letter to them on Monday and call. Hopefully i get lucky and they will agree to the small repayments i can make now. Based on a promise to pay lump sums once i gain employment.
I get what you meant by "dishonest" and i can see how people might see it that way. It difficult when you have financial difficulty and you have £6,000 sitting in your account for ages. I won’t go into details, but student life is hard.
Like i said that was then, this is now all this is an experience. The next time something similar happens, even if i get !!!!ed they are ignoring my claims. I'll just deposit the money in another account and avoid any temptations.0 -
I think the clue is in the thread title...0
