Student living with pensioner

I am currently a full time student at college in Scotland ( 19 years old ) in the process of trying to get myself a bursary, I live with my grandmother who is a pensioner & are struggling to live on a pension budget. Although my grandmother is not my guardian LEGALLY my mother has given up all maternal responsibility for me, Is my grandmother entitled to claim any sort of child benefit towards looking after my living expenses as even though i am over 18 i am still in full time education. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks

You can get some benefits in your own right. It won't be much. In scotland you can get ema's of £30 per week.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

If gran had claimed Child benefit last acedemic year, I believe she can continued the claim until your 20th birthday.

Is gran claiming housing benefit/LHA for providing your lodgings? If so, has she completed the notification that you are in collegeso thart she gets help? has she applied for the single person's CT allowance? And CTB on the bais of income?

I would also suggest that you need to be looking for part-time work urgently.

Since you are not living with your mother and you are in full-time education. Can you not claim income support?

Have you been kicked out or just left? If kicked out you can claim income support

What level of course are you on? If it's an HNC or any other degree level course you're ineligible for benefits (as is your grandmother for you) and need to apply for the student loan package.
