Bank driver

Any one know what a Bank Driver is. This job is being advertised by Avis car rentals. I think you have to clean and deliver cars to customers but not sure if you get paid a fare to get home. They offer 5 to 20 hours a week as of when at £5.98 per hour. I have a interview tomorrow with them, bit have recently signed up with a driving agency stating part time work, which I have already started getting jobs through. I phoned the agency and asked them if I would get at least 1 or 2 days a week[which is what I want] they said yes. Its the as of when that worries me which could also be weekends which I am not available. Whats your thoughts.

Phone Avis and ask what's involved?

  • I think generally 'Bank' means like 'pool' or 'relief' so there will be a group of people employed and they will be called in when needed/no-one else is available etc.
  • I worked for Avis in 2003 and I really enjoyed the job, I was there for probably a year. The downsides were that the pay was very low which is still appears to be and that it was 'casual'. The staff were made up of semi-retired types who were bored of the wife nagging so they got a part time job and students. I also remember having to work TWO months before I got paid, they did`nt tell me this in the initial interview and after a month I asked where my wages were, I was fuming. I`d check up on that my friend.
The job was great, very simple and I got to drive brand new cars all day long. I did actually consider re-applying recently as I usually have a day off in the week and work saturday but I decided not to, going back to a previous job is not always the best idea in my experience. HTH
