My son is also on the autism spectrum and was heavily in to Thomas for a great many years so this set will have its wear 20x over if he's anything the same! He also loves Disney Cars, again, because of the faces - might be something to keep in mind if you come across cheap DVDs or anything

Shame they have to grow up
I have a chink of light though. I was making DS's bed the other day, and jokingly said 'shall I put your Thomas duvet cover on?' (which hasn't seen the light of day for YEARS). DS replied 'oh yes please!'.
He was so happy to see the familiar engines, and remembered all their names. By the end of the day, he started to nag that he wanted to see all his trains again, so I hauled myself into the loft and tracked down the box they are in.
The look of delight on his face was joyful, and now his bedroom floor is an enormous track, with one of those massive trains that goes nearly the whole way round. Thomas in the lead of course!
So I think there is a little bit of his heart that will be forever Thomas, even though Darth Vader and Yoda seem to have a monopoly on it at times.:):):)“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0
