Sorry to bother anyone if it's a silly question, I have been selling on eBay for sometime but never come cross anything like this before, I listed a Sisley Compound (unwanted gift from Xmas, as you can guess) on eBay last night for sale, and below is the link that eBay sent me as the listing confirmation(sorry if no link is allowed, but without this link I really can not prove my item is actrually on the site!!)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220071760220&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:UK:31
I went on eBay today to check how is the bidding going, to my shock/horror, when I use "Sisley" as keyword to search, I can NOT see this item in the search results! Again I tried to search using other words which was in the title but my item seems have disappeared into thin air! The only way I can see this item now is by searching the item no, which obviously can't be done by potential buyer as they don't even know there is such an item for sale!
My question is does anyone had similar experience before? And why did it happen? Is it just a technical problem on eBay side or it's something else?
Any advice is highly appreicated as the listing is only 4 and half day to go....

this is quite common lately and when you slisted there should have been a note at the bottom before you submitted saying it could only be found via item number search straight away, sheould hopefully be showing up by later this afternoon thoughMy first ever Ebay Challenge. sometimes items take up to a day to show up on the search....0

Thanks mrsb for the quick reply, but it has been almost 14 hours since the listing, whatever problem eBay is having, would 14 hours be efficient for the listing to be shown?0

Hi,when I am logged onto ebay under my user name and try to search for one of my listings via an advanced search,it some times doesn't show.
If I am not logged on under my user name or my husband is on under his it can most of the time be found.
So what I am saying is don't log on and just search as though you are a guest not a user and see if it appears.
Hope this helps good luckMfit member no 13 original balance £44000

not sure but is it a designer cosmetic? I know when i try and list clarins on ebay it will actually take 2 days before it shows up in searches, something to do with them making sure it is not a counterfeit one or something? My first ever Ebay Challenge. So far after fees etc for 2007 - £635.72 :T0

Thanks guys for all the reply, I have tried to search without logging on, logging on using my log in or using my husband name, the item is only shown when I search using the item no, not any key words....
Sisley is kind expensive brand, that's the reason I don't want to just waste it at the first place...but how do eBay check if it's counterfeit or something....while it's a gift and it doesn't have a serial no like DVD or other stuff.
Anyway, fingers crossed, hope will see it tonight otherwise I will be really upset, as I have only listed for 5 days, and ebay is only making it's shorter!0 -

This happened to me once when I listed a bundle of baby clothing, when I looked under the ordinary "buy" heading, I could not find my item. For some reason, it suddenly appeared the next day???If at first you don't succeed ........ Alternative autism therapies should be free!!0 -

Maybe (I don't know this though) but maybe it has something to do with you not listing or buying in a while, have no idea why though, but it's probably just ebay being ebay0

found this on ebay help pages though:
Still can't find your item after a few hours? If you still can't find your item through keyword or category searches, here are some things to check:
In some cases, items that are not allowed on certain eBay international sites or that breach our rules will not appear in Search. Check our Offensive Items Policy if you feel that this may apply to your item. Currently this doesn't apply to UK Shops listings.
Items with obscenities in the description (for example in the track listing of a CD) won't appear in Search.
but can't see that applying though, but ebay do make mistakes, might be worth emailing them0
