Help on pricing for a PC to sell please!
I have a AMD athlon xp 64bit 3800, 939 motherboard (both of these are one month old), 768mb ram, 40gb hard drive with windows xp home in a pakckard bell case. There is a dvd+/- drive, floppy disc drive, dvi output and BT1040 wireless card, 4 usb 2, and a AMW 17" monitor with 6ms response time. There is a wireless logitech keyboard/mouse, HP deskjet printer with spare cartridges.
How much should I expect to get for this? Do I need to put a reserve and if so how much?
Many thanks

You will invariably find you'll realise more if you break it up and sell all the individual components separately.
Even after eBay/Paypal fees, my 2 year old pc broken up recently fetched me £555.........there's no way I could have sold it as a complete unit for that much.
The reason is, you'll target half a dozen or more different audiences........hard drive, graphics card, sound card, memory, processor, dvd/cd drive, motherboard, psu, monitor.......You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Hello davilown
Your thread will be better placed in the 'Ebay & other auctions' board, so I'll move it across.

for a rough idea - take a third off the new price of each item. And yes, you would do far better splitting and selling the components seperately0

What a strange combo of parts, an athlon xp 64bit processor with a 40gb hard drive, be lucky to £250 max as a whole.
Broke down may get 300 -350Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -

not that strange as if the op didn't get sucked into the pcw et al hype that you need a 400gb hard drive to store some digital photos. A 40gb hard drive is more than enough for most people who only have a few programs installed and maybe have 2-3000 photos.0 -
It is an odd combo ad the processor in this Packard bell only goes into the power range, all other models use the intel chipset. The power range start with a 200gb drive.
Must be an oldish computer with just new mobo and chipMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
yeah it sounds like new mobo and cpu with maybe a bit more ram in the old case.0
