A: No thanks, I need to sell the car to make space, preferably without filling that space with something else!!!
Needless to say, it was very hard writing a polite response0 -
I sell well on ebay and never seen the point of best offer for sellers.
I Sell at the lowest possible price I possibly can to make myself a reasonable profit (as i sell alot of 1 item), then I dont get stupid offers and sell more quickly.
So in your case id list for to the lowest price your willing to go to, and then you wont get low offers and probably a quicker sale too!0 -

My items tend to have alot of profitability, so I will usually put a Best Offer incase anyone wants to make an offer within the nearby asking price.
The fact is, the potential buyer didn't make an offer. They were simply saying they had £24 in their Paypal account. Well if they want the item - get some money from your bank account! :rotfl:0 -
Since there's a limit to the number of offers a customer can make, and in some categories it's only one, I suppose it makes sense for them to test the water and find out if their intended offer is likely to be accepted before committing themselves. I had a customer who did that with a perfectly reasonable offer (within about 10% of the asking price). I semt a message back saying that their proposed offer would be acceptable, and got a nice reply saying thanks, but sorry, his wife had bought one in the meantime. I sold it for the full BIN price the next day.
Most of my listings are acutions, but on the occasions I've done BIN with Best Offer listings, I've had my share of silly offers (e.g. 50p for a £6.99 suit!). I now include the following on my BIN/ Best Offer listings:A note about Best Offers: I am usually willing to consider offers a little below the asking price, but I'm unlikely to consider really cheeky low offers. If you do feel like trying your luck with a silly offer, remember that offers automatically expire after 2 days, so there's no point in submitting a very low offer more than 2 days before the end of a listing, because I'll be holding out for someone either to pay the asking price or make a more realistic offer. Please also note that I'm not always online when every listing ends, and when you submit an offer instead of clicking Buy Now, other customers are still free to purchase the item.0 -
I have the best offer icon on all of my items (around 1500 currently) and I do admit that I need a 'are you taking the p***' button, LOL. But some come in for 99p less than the price and I am happy to accept that.
However, on another side for me, I am registered for VAT and items going outside of the EEC are exempt from VAT so it means I can offer a better price to those customers. Likewise if I have had something in stock for more than 6 months and an offer comes through that means it goes for cost then I will do take it and use the money to buy something from the current season and it gets more people looking at my shop and the other items I have to sell plus I can take orders for other sizes in those ranges. It is all swings and roundabouts at the end of the day. Likewise if you get someone who wants to make bulk offers then again you can be more lenient. I'd rather sell for cost than have that customer go off elsewhere and buy from anther competitor to be honest (there are so many of them these days), another customer is someone else who gets to know about my great service, great prices and about my website and the more orders they place the better it is for me0 -
I recently sold a woodburner boiler for a friend on ebay as he is computer iliterate and didnt really understand the process.
He was happy to post his mobile number on the listing so I would not get lots of questions as I knew nothing about the item.
And I put that I know nothing about boilers and plumbing.
It still didnt stop this question being asked:
HI
Can you please help me. I have a Glow worm back boiler unit. It is missing the front fireplace. It is almost 13 years old. I am finding it difficult to get the front fireplace for it.
Boiler details:
Glow Worm 56/2
GC number: 4431540
Serial Number: 980011824
Will you please tell me where I can get that?
some people!0
