I would feel more confident about buying from a powerseller personally

the criteria for powerseller status is here..

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/services/buyandsell/powerseller/criteria.html
Sell on average a minimum of £750 or 100 items per month, for three consecutive months. In order to qualify you need to sell at least 4 items per month

So in theory, you could sell 100 ebooks at 1p each and get powerseller status....;)

I tend to avoid powersellers, personlly.

The ones I dealt with previoulsy were a lot less buyer friendly. I just seem to get better service from the smaller sellers.

I don't think that is true. I am a Powerseller and have been for the last 3 years and I give a personal and friendly service - a happy customer usually returns for something else and checks o0ut what else you have for sale elsewhere. All my emails and questions are answered personally and I send confirmations (and thanks) for payment and then shipping. If you do not get that then no, I would not shop with them either but it's a it harsh to tar every Powerseller with the same brush.

I hope that everything thinks I am trustworthy. Most of them after all are running a business and this is why they have sales high enough to be Powersellers.

It's all about common sense. let's face it, if they are selling eBooks at 1p then would you bother anyway unless you wanted to buy feedback? A lot of Powersellers have to pay Tax, NI and even possibly VAT and those that don't are the ones that you usually have no comeback with as they are selling 'odds and ends' and are the ones that will refuse to refund/replace/chase lost items in the mail/or give any sort of comeback after you have bought the goods from them. As with anything though, there are good and bad powersellers and you should always check feedback to get a good idea of the sellers performance, this usually give a pretty good indication of their performance. I don't really check whether they are a Powerseller but whether they have good feedback and this is all I am interested in.

Beware though - it might be a scam email. I got my inviatation last night for becoming a Silver Powerseller and I've been had my status for 3 years now. Might not be legit, that's all so be wary before you click into that link.

blue monkey .....had my early experiences been with sellers like you, then my opinion would be different.

    However they weren't! unlucky maybe!

I dont tar every power seller with the same brush ,I just speak from my own personal experience!

Keep up the good work! I might end up buying from you yet ! :rotfl:

    Thanks mah_jong,

I sell ladies undies...... not sure where you fit in for that criteria, your name does not give a lot away!!

I do know what you mean though. Some powersellers just do not give that personal service, I learn from experience and find that some of the sellers who churn out 100's of items a day do not give this service, I sell around 300 items a month which is why i have the Icon but still like to think I can give that extra personal touch. People get a small thank you gift with their order and it surely does not take 5 minutes to say Thanks for paying me, if you bought something from a shop and the person serving you walked out without as much as a thanks then you would not go back again - same on eBay, if I do not get a thank you then I won't shop with them again. I like to make sure my customers get their items quickly and have it within 48 hours - I just bought a leappad and waited 9 days for it to be delivered which is a bit of a joke to be fair and I would not buy again. You learn a lot from shopping on eBay and treat customers with the same respect you expect to receive, it is the only way to run a successful business. of course, this is not always the case but 98% of the time it is. Buy something on a Saturday night and it is posted Sunday, I just like my customers to be happy. A happy customer always comes back and orders more and I get more money through Private Sales and through eBay so it pays to be more attentive to your customers if they are going to help you make more money!!

Anyhow, I should be packing parcels but I just have to skim though the boards......

    Thanks again. x

to answer your question I don't think it really matters. I might be suspicious if you were selling a couple of hundred items per month and not a power seller. But in truth for me the only true criteria I judge a seller on are what their feedback is and how long they have been registered with ebay i.e. long enough not to be a fly-by-night rip off.
