I have just fitted a 4mtr x 4mtr conservatory and would like some advice on heating. Extending the central heating is not an option. So bascilly it would be an electrical based system.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Snap !
I am am going for an thermostatically controlled oil filled radiator. Its probably the safest thing if you want to leave it unattended.0 -
we got a oil filled rad in our conservatory, its perfect0

Ditto, my son slept in the conservatory snug as a bug over Christmas. I wait to see the electric bill0

electric oil filled rads will be expensive. if it really is not an option there is at least 1 electric wet (i think) single room system on the market, seen it installed and tested in the trade press and had a good write up. cant remember the name at the mo but will shout when the grey matter starts working. it will be more expensive but will do the job properly. if you are intending to stay for a while this may be the way to go.0

http://www.tombling.com/heaters/radiant-heating.htm,But have a look on ebay ,they are about £10. They are cheap to run.I just switch mine on when i have to go in there. In the summer the conservatory is TOO hot and in the winter its so cold.
If i won the lottery i going buy meself a Aga ,have it in the kitchen and open up the conservatory up into the kitchen .0 -

Don't quite follow that. I'm afraid.
Most direct electrical heaters are very efficient, turning practically all the electrical energy they use into heat. If you start using electrical energy to heat a wet central heating system this will be less efficient. Unless of course you have a heater heating the liquid all in one unit, which then becomes an oil filled radiator anyway !
Unless you can easily extend your existing system, I really cannot see any financial benefit in installing a stand alone electric "system".0 -
hi, what about a calor gas heater. we have a new age one and it looks great, is very economical and efficient. We use it to just top up the conservatory when we use it and switch it off later.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
