Avoiding A4e "Getting and finding a job" module

Well i have been signing on for the first time on JSA 25 and over and its been 6 months now and i have been put on a module called "Getting and finding a job" with a4e.

Has anyone done any of these courses? i know i have to do this otherwise my claim will be stopped but seriously, its only for people who need it and i certainly have my CV up to scratch and know how to "search" for jobs.

I know JSA 25 and over only have to do "New Deal" after 18 months but how many more of these smaller types of courses am i expecting before that happens?

They are easy...just do them you might learn something. Then again you might not but hey if it keeps Jobcentre happy then just do it.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

A4E do *occassionally* have access to vacancies not advertised.

Yes, it is an annoying hoop you have to jump through, but try and keep an open mind.

No disrespect intended, but if you haven't found a job in 6 months maybe you do need it? Be open-minded. Nobody has NOTHING to learn.

By all means, don't do it. But don't come whining when your allowance is stopped.

thats a rather naive generalisation. heard of the recession have you??
    What Would Bill Buchanan Do?
  • I think most adults know where to look for a job, how to fill in an application form properly and what to do and say at an interview. O.k there may be some people who have difficulty with this but they are in the minority. Or maybe Im wrong o thats why people are unemployed they dont know what to do to look for work! Obviously 2.5 million people are thick and stupid.

:rotfl::rotfl: yes thanks, partner has had periods of MONTHS without work in the building industry, but we've managed.

My point was, why whinge about it? It's a module that is compulsory to attend to keep claiming JSA. Who knows, there may be five minutes of information that the OP didn't know. But even if there isn't, it's not negotiable. It's not like they're too busy to attend, is it...

  • Look on the bright side - if you were sitting at home you'd have to put the heating on.

You'll probably get free tea/coffee and possibly even a lunch allowance.

If you get free postage for job apps then you might be able to get your Xmas cards posted early, just put a fictitious business name on the envelopes. Dear Aunty Susan, I am writing to ask if you have any job vacancies. Thank you for the photo of Tabitha in the school play. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Yours sincerely, P. Ensilode.
