We used to use that branch as our local branch. They changed our current account and business account addresses back to our old address, with no notification from them/us. We only found out when we were not receiving statements. Took them weeks to sort out (you would think it would be easy), and never had an apology or compensation for all the phone calls etc. We closed our accounts not long after that.0

To play Devils Advocate, there is no apology mentioned in that article, but that does not mean to say that no apology was actually issued, perhaps by the means of a press statement or a letter direct to affected customers.0

There was a bent member of staff, they have been sacked and no one suffered a financial loss. What do you want them to do?
This kind of thing happens at every financial institution.0 -
IMO the newspaper account could have been badly written. It talks about the accounts having been upgraded and also about cash having been removed. Could be that the removal was the admin fees, and not stealing. With a target driven environment I can understand the temptation to try something on like unauthorised upgrades to get your boss off your back. There is no mention of theft, so is the word bent appropriate to that staff memeber??0

Possibly yes (I don't know the exact details of the case so only say 'possibly'). If the member of staff was fraudently upgrading customer accounts to reach his/her targets, would they have qualified for a bonus due to their fraudulent activity?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
I really can't see the point of the thread - these stories happen all the time with High Street Banks, and as has been pointed out nobody suffered a financial loss. Perhaps the OP has a grudge against Natwest?0

The member of staff is effectively sacked and then disowned completely so to speak. The Premium gold account is inaccurate as it is advantage gold. I am sure the OP is simply giving a link to a story that a lot of people may have missed rather than any major grudge. As they have said they have never banked with NatWest so they have no idea.0
