Hi, I'm hoping somewhere here can offer me some help with this. I'm trying to find a hotel in london for new year's eve which isn't too horrendously priced! We want to be quite close to the centre if we can. (ideally close to the london eye to see the fireworks but i realise that might be unrealistic on my budget!)

Are there any hotels that people can recommend? I've tried to google this but my london geography is pretty limited and i couldn't work out where would be best.

For the Eye you would be best to look at hotels around Waterloo and Southwark, as both areas are walking distance. Travelodge has hotels at both Southwark and Waterloo and the Premier Inn has a hotel beside the eye. Holiday Inn has a hotel in Southwark.

You will be lucky to find anything around there for less than around £150- I've been looking myself but decided to stay slightly further out. I don't mind walking a bit further if it saves £50. Even travelodge's were coming up as stupidly expensive and I'm no way paying more than £30 for a travelodge.

I think we're just going to blow the budget and go for luxury as I've seen some great 5* hotels with breakfast walking distance from river for £200.
