Black Horse and the self employed taking their silver level of PPI cover in 2004

I wonder if anybody could offer me some advice/ help?
I took out a car loan through Black Horse in Jan. 2004. I told the salesman that i didn't want PPI. When the financial paperwork arrived ( 2 weeks after i'd picked up the car) it included PPI. At the time, i was self employed and the salesman was aware of that. I have asked Black Horse for a copy of the terms and conditions of the PPI policy, as well asking the name of the underwriters. (It was their silver level of cover) I'm not sure if it covered the self employed. Does anybody have any ideas about that?
I have been through Black Horse's own PPI complaints procedure and received a rejection letter. They said that the salesman would have considered my suitability for the policy and that it was fit for purpose. I then went through the FLA because Black Horse were not regulated by the fos in Jan. 2004. Again, i received the same letter from Black Horse stating that i had not been mis sold.
I am now waiting for my policy terms and conditions from Black Horse. Should i contact the fos? Where should i now go from here?

Hi there
Yes contact the FOS anyway, even though they will not be able to investigate against the business because they were not regulated, they will probably suggest the underwriter avenue.
If you contact/write to BH they will provide you with the copy of the PPI documents on request, and the underwriter/insurer details should be enclosed on them.
Keep at them, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks for the advice
I sent a subject access request by recorded delivery and also a request for my policy's terms and conditions. I bet Black Horse would move faster if it was me who owed them money :think:0 -

If it was similar to Sainsbury's Bank Silver cover of the same period (2004) my policy booklet T&C's DID cover self employed workers surprisingly !Successes
Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid
MBNA £3,600 Paid
