Can anyone recommend a uPVC cladding firm in the Cambs / Hunts area ?

I am looking for a firm to undertake repairs to a 1st floor dormer window at my mother's house (which is near St Ives, Cambridgeshire). She wants it reclad in uPVC.

What we are seeking is someone who will come out, physically examine and measure the area, and then issue a written quote - not some salesman in a suit.

This has actually proved surprisingly difficult to obtain in practice. The one "Fitter" chap we did manage to have attend did not even bother to bring a ladder !

It appears that many double glazing / replacement window firms do not actually undertake this sort of work as a seperate job - only as part of an overall refit. So far I have tried eight.

I have also tried various builders in her area, who specifically advertise that they do dormer window repairs etc, only to be subsequently told they no longer work above ground level due to Health and Safety legislation.

Therefore if anyone does know of a suitable firm and could advise me accordingly I would be grateful.

Thanks

I have used Trulight Windows, based near Royston, on two occasions (once for replacement windows and once for replacement UPVC work). They were recommended by several friends and have since done work for my parents. They have good aftersales service in case anything goes wrong.

When we had the gable end of our house replaced in UPVC in the spring, the manager didn't use a ladder and did all of his quote by sight. We were very happy with the replacement.

    Thanks for that.

I just visited their website which appears rather strange. Counselling services and replacement windows on the same site. I suppose it could work !

When my wife and I had our windows replaced the representiatives of both firms measured each and every window etc inside and out - even those windows that were of identical size (it still only took about 15 minutes). I only wish I could get either of these firms to do the job for my mother but she is outside of their area.
