Hi all, I need some advice as I am not sure what to do.
I am hoping to go back to work in the next couple of weeks but I need some advice. I will be working 8 hours which will be as an employee and then I will be working another 8 hours self employed. I want to keep everything above board so I am just wondering what I have to do with regard to paying tax and NI as I have never been self employed before and its all too confusing
Thanks for any advice.

What are you doing as self employed? There are very strict rules and you can't just do a job for a company effectively as an employee and call it self employment.
Anyhow you will need to keep accounts and register as self employed with HMRC. Once a year you will fill in a self assessment form where you will fill in both a section for self employment and one for PAYE employment.0 -
Thanks Hammy.
I will be cleaning (domestic). 1 property it will be on their books with them paying NI and tax and then I will be working at 2 other houses but this will be cash in hand which is what I want to declare to HMRC but I wasn't sure how to go about it.0 -

You simply call HMRC and notify them that you are now self employed. You'll have to complete a self assessment once a year.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
