I am in arrears with EDF and i would like to pay by standing order. I have tried to request this info but the advisors bang about pre-pay or direct debit and i am interested in neither.
Does anyone pay via standing order and know the details so i can set it up? Its just inconvenient having to remember to make the payments each week.

You can set up a standing order just by visiting your bank and using the same EDF account details and ref that is stated on your bills.
But if you agree the amount to be repaid with EDF anyway, then what is the difference? They can't change the DD amount without advising you first, and if they do then you have the full protection of the bank's DD guarantee.
But if you already have an agreed repayment schedule with EDF and you have broken this, then yes they may apply to have you moved onto a PPM.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Have yet to agree to anything, but would like to start paying this ASAP. I do not want DDs because i have had companies in the past withdraw £900 rather than £30 agreed, so i only set up standing orders now.I have enough money to last me the rest of my life... unless I buy something.0

As I pointed out, any such action is covered by the DD guarantee scheme-your bank would have to reverse the transaction immediately. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
