Homebase kitchens (merged threads)

Hi, I'm new to this site. We've finally bought a Homebase kitchen and had it installed last week. This left us with 4 unused, boxed sidepanels which we feel have been over-ordered by the Homebase designer. We went back to Homebase to ask if we could return these for a refund, but were told, quite rudely, that once the kitchen has been ordered, it is their policy not to refund a single thing! They are now trying to tell us that the kitchen was not installed correctly as they wouldn't order too many side panels. From looking at our kitchen, unless if we were expected to use side panels on the insides of the built-in oven, which would be pointless, we can't see where they are suppose to go. With sidepanels, I refer to the panels that are the same colour as the kitchen doors as opposed to the white colour of the inside cupboards.
Does anyone know if we have any rights here or do we kiss the money goodbye?
Many thanks,
Duckie

    Hi, Welcome to the site!!!
If it was me, and homebase had designed the kitchen, then they should take the sidepanels back as it was designed incorrectly. If you designed it yourself then a chat with the store manager explaining things may help. If you get nowhere then I'd suggest going to citizens advice or trading standards.

    hope this helps, good luck!!!
  • We just ordered a Homebase kitchen and they have included side panels to go either side of the built in oven.... looks like we will have some left over too... maybe we could club together and make something usefull out of them!

i also ordered homebase kitchen and (the assistant designed it) had £260 worth of these panels.

let me know if you have any joy here with the refund as i'm starting to feel that this may be a ploy by the staff here

Hi, thanks for all the responses. Interesting to know that I am not the only one with this problem. I will be contacting their head office to complain and will keep you updated.
My other thought is that we are hoping to move to another 'fixer-upper' so will order the same kitchen and tell them where to shuff their side panels on the next order! What a hassle though, so be warned if you order a Homebase kitchen! Apart from that, I can say that we have found the Homebase kitchen to be better than B&Q (with them you are lucky if they deliver half the order or if they even have it in stock!) Been there done that too!
