*Help please* Courier service for an iron bed

Hi,

I have seen an iron bed that I am thinking of getting on eBay, though it is "buyer collects".

As I don't have any way of collecting it in person how could I go about getting a courier to collect & deliver it for a sensible price. I did this once before through a seller and it cost me a fortune sadly. About £100

It would be collected from London and delivered to Gravesend In Kent, so it wouldn't be all that far distance wise.

Can anyone please offer some advice please?

Thanking you in advance.

Size wise and being a very heavy item, its not going to be cheap....and I doubt any couriers would do it.....probably better looking at a small local home removals company.

You would also need to check with the seller that they would allow it first....
  • Thanks Pennylane.

I just got a mail back from the seller saying that it's okay with them.

I had'nt really thought of the home removals option ...it's worth investigating but I doubt it's going to be cheap.

I did a move of some furniture and did a search for "man with a van" - worked out very cheap and this was from Newcastle to Glasgow
We all evolve - get on with it

Look in your local rag for a "Man with a Van" and ask for a quote.

    Cheers

If it's a real old iron bed, unless you're buying the mattress as well, it won't be that big or heavy, just two bed ends and, er, the metal struts that join them, whatever they're called. They're always dismantled for transportation.

If you have a friend with a small van or estate car it should do the trick. If in doubt, ask for the measurements of the component parts.
