Equifax Credit Report

in Credit cards
I have just failed a credit check for a mobile phone but the girl couldn't tell me why so I thought I would get a credit report from Equifax. So I decided to do the online £2 as I have heard the free trial is a nightmare to get out of and the post takes forever. Having filled out the form and given my card details for the £2 I was told to log in only when I did it said that my details weren't registered. I looked on the site for some sort of contact and all I could find was either in the member area (which I can't get into) or some outrageously charged phone number, which as I only have a mobile phone due to living in student accommodation, I refuse to use.
Has anyone else had this problem and know what to do? And does anyone know if there is some problem passing a credit rating using a student accommodation address as they kept asking me if I was in student accommodation? My old contract is due to end soon, my phone is on it's last legs and I'm about to start banging my head against the brick wall!!!

Customer services is 020 7298 3000 I believe.
Sounds like they may have had an issue confirming your identity (which often happens if you are not on the electoral roll a the address you supplied or if you have very little credit history) but try customer services and see if they can help.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I tried to get a £2 Equifax online and had the same problem only a few days ago.
I filled in the form and put in my bank account details but it kept on saying I have put the wrong numbers in,I knew I hadnt.
In the end they gave me a phone number to ring, after 15 mins I gave up and it looks like 3 lots of £2 have been taken out of my bank account:(
Now last night I looked on here and noticed a forum member had the excate same problem and they rang Equifax only to be told they would need her to send different forms of ID such as driving licence, passport and utility bills. This is something Im not willing to do and it looks like i have lost a total of £6 for trying to fill it in online 3 different times.
HOwever about a year ago I got my Experian credit check for £2 with no problem at all,now why didnt I stick with Experian.:(0 -
I have had the same problem with Experian. Tried to get it Sunday night and it said I would have to call as there was a problem with my address (which does not come up on the usual PO system). When I called on Monday, a rather rude lady asked me loads of questions, like when I took out a credit card which I've had for years so couldn't remember exactly, how much my limit was (it is an odd figure and again I couldn't tell her exactly as all I knew was that I was nowhere near my limit!). She then said that I would have to supply further info and sent me an email confirming what. She had already told me on the phone that I could scan and email the info and they would reply in 24-48 hours to allow me to access online. That was Monday, it is now Thursday and I still don't have access. I emailed this morning and received a reply saying they would reply within 14 days! What a shambles - they took my money OK I notice! I want my credit info NOW as I am about to apply for finance. I tried calling again tonight and got a message saying I will have to email or write!0

for people in the U.S., just go to annualcreditreport.com. Its a website that the 3 bureaus had to create due to the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
And it is really free, no credit card is required, no scammy credit monitoring services.
Not sure if they have a similar service in the UK0
