Please help me am i better off cutting down hrs

Hi Everyone,

I really hope someone out there is kind enough to spend a couple of moments helping me out as i am completely an utterly confused and going out of my mind, I think its probably easiest if I write down my circumstances for you to analyse.

I am 25 and live with my partner also 25

I have a 3 year old daughter and I am 12 weeks pregnant

I work 37 hours a week minimum wage (5.73phr)

My partner works full time for £14,000 PA

My Daughter needs childcare for 4 days a week at £35 a day

So the main question is should i cary on on my minimum wage job forking out for childcare which is nearly more than i earn, or would i be entitled to help with childcare if i dropped my hours down to 16 hrs per week for instance,

ANY help will be so appreciated and will help me with t sleepless nights i am experiencing at the moment :-( :(

    Put details in there.
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!
  • I thought the minimum wage was £5.92 an hour, and due to increase in October. Also, don't you get child tax credits to help with childcare? Up to 70% is paid via CTC for people on low incomes.

good idea op, cut your hours and live off the state. this is the problem nowdays, the system encourages peaple to rely on benefits instead of helping themselves.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.

i work part time 20 hrs a week and looked into upping my hrs and i was a whole 5 pounds a wk better off well not even a fiver for working what was basically a extra day a week
unless your in that situation, you dont know, you do what is best for you and your family
, im a single parent 2 boys at uni , well one just finished , now working , other one going back for yr 3, daughter still at school
the whole system is wrong , the more hrs u do the better off u should be,
untill that is done people will not want to work any more hours

You are better of though, your earning the money yourself. When universal credit comes in the withdrawal rate is higher, so your best to get more hours now.
