Hi
I live in Wrexham ( NE Wales) and thinking of heading out to Anglesey tomorrow for a day out.
Either there or somewhere within an 80 mile driving distance of Wrexham approx.
I want somewhere with a dog friendly beach and pub and a few independent shops to browse round for my mum - not main stores, just some nice little craft shops etc
Or is there anywhere better nearby?
We've visited the following places already:
Barmouth
Porthmadog
Criccieth
Conwy
Llandudno
Betws y Coed
I liked all of those, probaby Porthmadog and Criccieth being amongst my favourites, so something along those lines.
Hoping to have a pub lunch where the dog is welcome too, so any advice would be appreciated.

Most Welsh Beaches have dog access but also are dog restricted too (places set out where you can/cannot walk with your dog) As a dog owner & parent i totally agree with this . Dog friendly pubs is another one as i dont like dogs in pubs where they serve food but do like to sit outside with our dog & kids and enjoy a meal/drink. Heres my choice Morfa Nefyn a stunning beach walk with a dog walk area get in the ty coch pub on the beach for some great food http://www.tycoch.co.uk/ & real ale. Red Wharf Bay in Anglesey & The Ship Inn has history very good food and a real ale boozer http://www.shipinnredwharfbay.co.uk/ pity i am the only driver in our family as i would happily spend most of my day/night here. Best dog walk IMHO is Dinas Dinlle Bwyty Lleu is a local meeting point serves decent afternoon snacks (havent tried evening meals) walks either way of the main pebbly beach.(dinas has a great pathway next to the beach for nearly two miles ideal for prams and wheelchairs Aberdaron is stunning and Gwesty ty Newydd is poss my best fish foodie pub in the whole world (well wales) (well gwynedd) Other places to walk the dog Abersoch/Newborough/Breakwater Country Park. All great places but will have restrictions this time of year you have to accept but dog walk areas do out number restricted places ten fold. have a good day hope the weather is good . See you on Dinas if your there saturday:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Hi, thank you for that info. I know what you mean re. dogs in pubs, but I would only ever consider one where dogs were allowed in the bar area only (not restaurant) and it would have to be stone or wood floors - not carpets, as I would question how particular the owners were over cleanliness.
Saying that, he's a very clean boy and often more well behaved than some children we've seen in pubs :rotfl:- best policy is parents and pet owners alike should have total respect for other people using the pub.
I just had a look at Newborough, the model village looks good and is pet friendly.
Now, all we need is some sunshine hopefully!0 -
Model Village is ok but for less than a tenner for a family you know its not going to take too long (although its a model you can walk around the world in a hour)
http://www.walesdirectory.co.uk/Walks/Newborough_Beach_Llanddwyn_Island.htm one of the best dog walks in the whole of wales with lots of history . (If you go to the beach car park you have to pay. but the money made goes back into repairing the dunes from the weather.) hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
I agree with Dinas Dinlle (my local haunt!) & Bwyty Lleu - devine!!! Not sure about dog friendly pubs........0

What about Beaumaris?
Ticks the boxes for shops etc, not sure about dog friendly pubs though, but plenty of places to sit out and eat if weather is warm.:j0 -

Seconded for Ty Coch Inn at Morfa Nefyn. Love walking along the beach (from the right) to get there. Going through little bays & the dogs loved it. Admittedly we usually can only afford a bowl of soup or a bag of crisps but it's such a lovely walkOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...
