Iberostar Bouganville Playa - Tenerife

Just booked the Iberostar bouganville playa in Tenerife for Xmas all inclusive - brilliant price and the hotel looks fab BUT i have been on tripadvisor and the reviews there are awful - just wondered if anybody has been and can let me know what its really like

I stayed here about 3 or 4 years ago. I booked it because I had stayed in Iberostars before and they had always been good. I was a bit disappointed to be honest - it wasnt a bad holiday but I felt the room etc could have been nicer and location could have been better. It is on the edge just near a scruffy area of cafes and shops.

Tripadvisor can be very tricky these days.

I booked Hotel La Siesta in Tenerife last Jan at a very good price, despite the fact that there were some rather extreme negative reviews amongst some very positive ones. I suspect there may also be the odd person with an axe to grind who post unfavourable reviews too.

Result? it was absolutely fine and numerous people including me, posted subsequent reviews querying the extremely negative reviews that did not reflect the true situation in their experience. One comment like " sun beds around the pool were broken and dirty and there are lots of cracked and broken tiles in the pool" painted a horrendous picture which just was not true in our experience just a couple of days later!

One thing I sometimes do on TA is disregard reviews from one-off reviewers and consider recent reviews from more established TA members when making a decision, also try and assess whether reviews are from people who have similar holiday expectations as yourself.

I stayed in Iberostar Bougainville Playa a couple of years back. We had a lovely sea view room and I was happy with the hotel location. The rooms are a bit dated in style, there's no doubt, but we had a lovely and good value for money stay there.
