Income Support problem

Hi, I receive income support as I am a carer for my son who receives DLA. My fortnightly payment has not gone into my account today. My son has just turned 16 and had a DLA renewal, which stayed the same, LRM and HRC. This would have been my first payment since then. Should I still receive IS, I haven't received a letter saying it will stop when he turns 16? I will ring them in the morning but I thought I would check if anyone on here had any ideas about this. Thanks for any help.

If your IS contains the child allowance, this will stop at 16 unless he is going into further education. Child benefit will also stop. However you should still get your IS premiums and carers premium, so ring them.

Hi Anubis, He is going into further education, I filled out the form a few months ago for child benefit. I'm just going to ring them and find out what's happened. Thanks.

It shouldn't stop then. However ring them and also ring child benefit. I know whenever I inform child benefit of staying on in education, I fill in the form, and they also stop my payments saying they never receive it.

This even happened last year when I sent two forms and filled the form in on the net.

Hi, Well I phoned them and apparently it's a problem with their computer system. When a child turns 16 the payments automatically stop even if you are still entitled to IS. They then wait for you to ring and tell them about it and then they can reinstate the payments. She said the money will be in my account later today. My child benefit hasn't stopped so that should be ok. Thanks for your help.
