why dont you try the barclaycard pre credit card application check
you will have to google it and doesnt leave a search on your credit file
if it doesnt say yes you will not get a 0% on a mainstreamI am NOT a mortgage advisor nor a professional in any debt related matters my replies to posts reflect my personal view only and experience in life time situations that may or may not be of any use to you if you need advice speak to a professional0 -
It took me 3 years and I managed to get one with my Bank (Lloyds TSB) which was considerably less % per month. The problem is paying off Vanquis they don't accept balance transfers and you will end up paying interest for months after is paid off as its backdated, etc...... I just ended up paying it so they didn't mess up my record.

Very happy to be rid of them.0 -

Was just wondering if anyone had used Vanquis for 'credit building' and it had worked to get a main stream CC.
Think I will try my bank first. Natwest.

Hi,
I had a Capital One card for two years (I know it's not Vanquis), and I was accepted for a Creation Silver Mastercard which is 0% interest for a year so maybe you should try them.0 -

I have managed to transfer from Vanquis to Lloyds without difficulty. Transfer went through today. Very very happy to be rid of them too.0 -
My OH held a Vanquis card for three years but this didn't help him get a 0% card as there was still an outstanding default on his credit file.
Once this dropped off, HSBC gave him £2,500 0% 15 Months - and were happy to transfer the Vanquis balance.
BUT the presence of a well run Bank Account, Mobile Contract, and other accounts, leads me to believe he would have had just as much chance getting a 0% from his bank had he not had the Vanquis card - it was the lack of adverse information that made the difference.
My opinion on "Credit Builder" cards is this:
> If you have no adverse information on your credit file, and it is sparse - i.e. you've only had a bank account and mobile contract so far - running a sub-prime card flawlessly for a year or two should help you get a decent 0% / Rewards / etc card. So long as all your accounts are kept up to date and your ER registration is present
> If you have adverse data and other accounts on your credit file it's likely that you'll achieve just as much - potentially more - from concentrating on settling old debt as quickly as possible, getting as much adverse data sorted out as possible, and maintaining existing accounts in an orderly fasion.
Adding another account to a mish mash of adverse data and bad debt will not help even if it is run perfectly.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I have had a vanquis for 1 year, and used it perfectly (spent about £100 a month on it, repaid in full every month)
I have just been accepted for a RBS your points world Mastercard- 0% for 13 months and 0% balance transfers. They did accept the balance transfer from Vanquis no problem. :T
I have an income of just under 20k, have been with RBS as my bank for 10 years and have had good use of my account for 2 years (Havent missed an interest payment on my overdraft, havent gone over the limit).
I also have a CCJ which is 3 years old.
I would like to cancel my vanquis now- does anyone know the easiest way to do this? I cannot seem to find out how on evanquis....Overdraft: £2,000 Paid Off: £0

CC: Granite/Vanquis - Limit:£750 Balance £0 (pay off in full every month).
Very- Online store account: Limit: £950- Balance £200.
