Repaying my loan from The Bank of Mum and Dad

  • Hi JCG

Just wrote a post and it logged me out... Your SOA looks reasonable... I would look at ideas to up your income on the up your income board or look if the £10 a day challenge is still running on the DFW board... As you can see from my signature you can majorly improve your income with a little effort

    Hi,

It's sooo annoying when that happens! Especially if you've thought about what you were putting!

I think it is going to be more up my income rather than make cuts, I already feel like I'm missing out on things so if I tried to cut my spending more I wouldn't feel like I was having much of a life, and long term that ain't good for morale!

Will definitely try and take a look at the up your income board a bit more. I already want to sort through all my old clothes for £bay, just need to finish painting the living room first so I have somewhere to do this :D

Also does anyone think my gas looks ok? I'm with BG and haven't changed since I moved in, I'm scared of changing thinking I'll get a better deal, then them hiking up the new deal!

    All thoughts welcome :)

Hi - have you signed up to quidco yet - I could pm you a referral link... I've saved £673 over the last 3 years just tho them...

You can get paid to look on moneysupermarket.com or equivalent sites to see if you can get your energy cheaper... You can then still potentially go back thro quidco to change to a cheaper supplier if that is the right way forward for you... When I first joined I got paid to switch, and saved hundreds from switching on top - Love MSE for that!

I think one of the first things I did was a car boot - didn't make much money but it did break the thoughtless spending cycle. I also sold some furniture to friends and sold some surplus craft stuff to people at work... Just changing your mindset from buying to selling can work dividends.

When I first joined I went from over spending £1K a month to paying off £1K a month - that was a £2K spending swing in the right direction... I also most months generated £240-£300 from the Make £10 a day challenge... It can be done... Hypno has paid off a lot of her debt through the Make X a day challenge...

  • Hi saving and clippy!

Saving - I looed at quidco when i was looking for home insurance but someone had said about clearing cookies and I didn't know what that meant! I am dubious of things that give you money for nothing - except my boots nectar and clubcard ;) all looking healthy balances so may be used over Christmas to pay rather than collect!

Clippy - I read about your mystery shops but I tend to avoid shops as much as possible - not sure I could resist spending if I did them! I will have a sneaky peek tho and see if I could find anything that suits!

Carboot is on the list - anything that I don't think ebay will want!

    HI JCG

I was dubious about quidco but if you do a search on cashback sites you will find that Martin has an article on it... I've had £670+ plus just from quidco, £100-200 from my husband's quidco, plus £300+ from other cash back sites... It made the world of difference to me and often on things I would have bought anyway.

Clearing your cookies - you just go to internet tools - which may look like a washer on the top right of your internet screen - you go to internet options and then ask it to delete browsing history / cookies by ticking the box next to them. You can leave your passwords and form data unchecked and most of the time it will keep them.

There will be times when the cashback doesn't track but you can raise a complaint when this happens - it can also take 3-4 months, sometimes more to actually get the money. I've had £86 in August just from things I was buying anyway...

Whatever you decide - good luck!

  • Hmm next time I need something will definitely give it another go! Spose if I need something anyway theres nowt to lose!

I've been good the past few days spends wise. Only got petrol, then bought the drink at the cinema yesterday cos my friend bought tea. Was tempted to go to MrT earlier as I was going past but I can survive a little longer. Defrosted a meatball thing for my tea that I bought as a whoopsie ages ago - was yummy! But still expensive as a meal as I ate the whole thing meant for 2 people :(

I've spent way too much time on the internet today - totally unproductive after last weekends sudden burst!

Joined a free dating website so I've been "browsing" on there! Like I said at first, I am usually happy that I am single, but I'm getting on a bit and I think its time to make an effort not to be :D

Only problem is, I like nosying at the profiles and will send out contact requests but when someone who can talk to me comes online I shut it down straight away! And I wonder why I'm single :o

  • Oh no - off to Mr T later!

Made a list - hope I stick to it!

Also owe £40 for text books rather than the £30 I thought it would be :(

  • Well Mr T seemed as tho it had all gone t*ts up re the budget when I got to the till and have to pay just over £90 even with voucher  but when I came back and analysed what I had bought, only £40 of that was food! I just spent too much of my cleaning/toiletries budget - one of those where everything runs out at once - toilet roll, kitchen roll, tissues etc.

Also bought one top on sale for work - no trousers that fit alto I am refusing to buy size 20 any more which made it harder ;) incentive...

So all in all just overspent on toiletries.

Clippy - I'm giving oasis a whirl but I'm same as you! I don't know why because if I don't like them or a make a fool of myself when chattin to em I never need to see them!

I know someone who used match but didn't like it. I'm not going to pay just yet, give a couple more years maybe I will be willing to pay any amount :rotfl:

I wanted a churchill dog when they were out but insurance was twice as much and then some with them at the time so I gave up on that pipe dream!
