Tax credits

:(:(:(Hi,

I have just recieved phone call from tax credits, The woman said that they sent a letter out to me on the 12th july asking me if i was the main carer?which i am,I told her this and asked if there was a problem and she said no?

Anyway after that i phoned my ex to ask him if he knew anything about this.He says he got a letter to ask if he was the main carer? i never even knew he claimed tax credits! let alone for my son, We do share responsiblity as our son has alot of medical problems but im definately the main carer! anyway i asked how long he had been recieving tax credits for and he said since 2005! Someone at his work told him he was entilited to them so he applied, tax credits asked for my sons passport which he sent in and asked who recieved the child benefit,he put on the form mother!

I cannot believe this is now happening after a terrible year,Any ideas what will happen? Will i be sent to prison?

Any views would be appreciated
Janette xx

Then it's your ex who's in trouble as he's the one that shouldn't have been claiming...
  • Ex will have to pay it back not you.
  • Thanks for that.. i have done nothing wrong so how come i feel like i have??

I Have spoken to him again, He says how did he manage to claim tax credits if he wasnt entitled,He says when he phoned up for a claim pack,he then got a letter asking to send in our sons passport,he the recieved them back and then agot an award through telling him how much he was getting.this has been renewed every year so he thought he was entitled to it.

    Thanks Again
