Current account

Hi everyone.
I'm currently in the process of claiming back bank charges from Barclays so went to Natwest to open another account.
They refused my application for a current account and only offered me one without an overdraft and cheque book.
I've had my credit file from experian and there are 2 defaults on my file.
Bearing this in mind, can anyone advise me where I could possibly get a current account?
I'm also going self employed in April and need to open a business account...I fear I may be turned down for this type of account also.
Please advise me
Thanks in advance

There's tons of threads about Citibank's Sterling Current account. I've not seen anybody post to say they've been declined, they gave me an account with a cheque book & a 2in1 card, some have also got a 3in1 card & i'm told I can probably get one in three months. It's definitely worth reading all the threads on it & applying which you can do online. I've got terrible credit, many who applied had credit problems & it seems all of us have been accepted, gl!0

Sorry can't help dabbers but your tale is a timely reminder to others contemplating reclaiming charges - make sure you have a new account in place before you burn your bridges with your existing bank.Ethical moneysaver0
