My Daughter is expecting a child and will be a single Parent. I had read on the net about the change to the working hours rule and the plan of increasing the hours to 24 and so I contacted HMRC on my Daughters behalf to find out more about it as my Daughter only works 20 hours per week. I was told that single parents are excluded from the change and still only need to work 16 per week but that for everyone else the increase to 24 hours will begin in April 2012.
