  • Heya.

I am sooo in the same boat as you! Tried and hated the gym - so can't get motivated there. Everyone raves about running and have given that a good go too but hated every footstep lol!

A colleague of mine went on a boot camp for a month and while she lost some weight and inches, I would've expected her too - she was working out 5 out of 7 days and the eating plan was very restrictive and cut out a lot practically anything with taste! Fast forward 3 weeks later - boot camp, early mornings and a shouting instructor is a dim and distant memory and she's put the bulk of it back on. Tbh I think it's maybe a great quick fix but for anything long term - nah. And was so expensive for what it was (well the one she did was anyway!).

I'm like you go to Zumba twice a week and love, love, love it but no amount of shaking and twisting is shifting my mummy tummy or my considerable behind lol! Someone today suggested to me spinning classes was the way forward?????
  • I run a residential 7 day weight loss bootcamp lighteryou.co.uk since being on the ITV show the biggest loser i have struggled to lose more weight and hope these will help me and please like me, we are giving everyone 2 free laser lipo treatment and up to 50% so its only £700 for 7days the cheapest bootcamp weightloss retreat around i would suggest you come along and see what we can do you you can lose up to 10lb in one week and we have 4-8 weeks support plan after

I have said in other threads that you need to burn 3500 cals to lose 1lb of fat so 2 zumba classes per week isn't gonna do that I'm afraid!

Fact is, we have to do a shedload of exercise in order to burn fat - I think cos it's so easy to overeat we think the comparative torture of strenuous exercise must mean we are doing far more than we actually are.

I've thought about boot camps myself but to be honest, they are kind of an artificial situation and you I think you need to have started learning good habits before going on one for it to work. Although when I've seen them on telly what it has brought home to me is the above (how much you have to do) and also how you don't have to eat as much as you think you do to sustain a tough regime.

i did a boot camp last year in wales
it was a brilliant week for me even if it was hard and while the weight loss was artificial mainly water loss - i did manage to learn to run from it and still do it now 1 year on

i went from not being able to run for the bus to running 5 miles in the space of 3 weeks
and i still do now 3 -4 times a week im not a fast runner but i plod along and finnish the run religiously
however if you are very very overweight i wouldnt reccomend it to anyone it way to much i wasnt fit but i wasnt just borderline of being overweight and i found it incredibly hard some girls were really fit but not me

Several ladies who were very overweight gave up one on the 2nd or 3rd day and out of 25 of us only 18 or 20 of us finnished the week
the intensivness of the course was really hard running every day several times along with even walks and hikes boxing battle pt and just about everything else that i can think of from 6am till 8pm roughly every day

i paid 750 for a week with newyou boot camp it was a last minute booking and yeah it was good and i learnt a lot but unless you take what you learn there home with you and carry it out then i dont think it will work
  • This is a boot camp that you can go to on a weekly basis. I joined a few months ago and really enjoy it.

They are run in local parks in most cities & towns. I go to the one in Bath. It's for 1 hour, and you can choose what level: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

I've noticed a difference in stamina, strength... we do sit ups, press ups etc.

It's not a quick fix, however I'm more interested in losing weight gradually and toning up steadily.

You can even try it out for free, I've found a free coupon that you can print here: http://www.promocodes.co.uk/free-stuff/

    Give it a go :-)
