Hello, does he want a holiday on a barge or just a day trip type thing? Trying to think who may be able to help, I did find this for people over 40, how old is he http://www.honeyrosefoundation.co.uk/
There is also the UK Canal's network (terrible font at side of pages, I can barely read it)http://www.ukcanals.co.uk/ maybe follow the link's & see if there is anyone who might have better advice. Is there a specific are he want's to go to?

If he just wants a day trip that's not as expensive - could you maybe have a whip round from all his friends and family? Or do you have a docking area nearby? I live close to a canal and there are certain areas where there are private barges that are home docked there - maybe you could go down and have a word with some of the owners and they might let you go out for a few hours for a token payment. Whereabouts are you in the country?

There are still people who don't use email's, my local council for 1 I've emailed them a few times, never had a response, if you have a number for them give them a wee ring, they may have missed it.

    Hi

A friend has arranged for 12 of us to hire a barge for the day. It's £145 for the day's hire.

Could you get sort out 10 of your mate's husband's friends to go on the trip with your friend and her husband and for the 10 of them to cover the cost between them to save your friend and husband paying?
  • Has he been put into contact with Macmillan nurses? They are excellent support and Macmillan have funds which are in the form of grant. They do all the paperwork, and it doesnt take long. Maybe that an option?

Alo, if he i terminally ill he can apply for diability living allowance under the special rules, which means his application is fast tracked.

    Hope thats helpful
