Tax Credits - 4 weekly payments

Hey
Im thinking about changing to 4 weekly instead of weekly payments to budget better.
Tax credit office this morning advised they cannot tell me once the change is made when the next payment will be, could be in a week, could be in 4 weeks, or maybe longer.
Has anyone ever done this change before or had experience with this and how long did it take? I can manage a few weeks without a payment but after that I would struggle.
Thanks

The longest you would go without a payment would be 4 weeks. I'd advise you to put a bit away each week for a few weeks, then make the switch. That way, you've got some spare cash to tide you through. Your payment will be paid in arrears, so you'd receive 1 weeks pay, then 4 weeks later receive 4 weeks pay
Hope this helps x0
