Off the top of my head - Reading Museum, Museum of English Rural Life both have free or low priced events for kids in the summer, Beale Park is good tho expensive but there is enough to keep you going all day.
Could try Netmums "101 free things to do with kids" http://www.netmums.com/h/n/SUMMER/fun/ - if you can take the smugness -
"Being organised and planning your days in advance can pay dividends where entertainment, fun (and your sanity!) is concerned, as one Netmums member explains:
'I always plan my summer holidays well in advance and know what I will be doing throughout, day by day. Lots of our activities are free like picnics, nature walks, bike rides, sports in the park and we also have cleaning toys days, junk modelling days and other creative sessions. My TV hardly goes on because the children are so busy.'
One of their suggestions is a room tidying competition - good luck with that one... :rotfl:

I laughed at lot at this. How smug ??!!!
If it is a wet day, try Coral Reef pool in Bracknell. There is a ship set in the pool with lots of water cannons etc0 -
I second Coral Reef, might be going there with nephew and niece on Monday.
Tomorrow we are going to Legoland with half price vouchers from back of Skips/Hula hoop packets.
Wellington country park on A33 or Beale park as mentioned above.
California country park in finchampstead has a huge outdoor paddling pool - went there last week. Theres also an outdoor swimming pool in newbury.
Dinton Pastures, nice to walk round the lakes and feed the ducks. Same with walking along the river at Henley and some playgrounds there.
If they are old enough, bowling or cinema.0 -
Thank you, really appreciate the suggestions, even the ones from the smug mums :rotfl:
Is California park free?
I always think Wellington is dear for what it is, am I missing something?
Any more suggestions much appreciated!0 -
California is free, but I think the new park at Christchurch meadows is better. The pool is nice and the playground is good.
Also how about Geocaching , our children love it. Theres even one on caversham lock. Need a gps phone such as an iphone or the like though.
Some of the cinemas do early morning shows for a pound each aswell.0 -
Geocaching sounds like a lot of fun - I was going to wait untl the children are older as I will have the pushchair with me and thought that didn't suit for hunting through bushes.
Can I ask what sort of things are hidden - would they be of interest to a 3yr old girl?0
