    It's still good value at full price, especially if she will use it more than once. You do not have to be in possession of a railcard to book the tickets, just to travel - so if I haven't got a current railcard (I don't renew until the next time I need it) I will book the tickets online 8 weeks in advance, but not buy the actual railcard until the day I travel. Requires early attendance at the train station, but keeps the railcard valid as long as possible.
