John Lewis credit cards - the worst!

I've had to threaten John lewis credit cards with the Financial Ombudsman after they took the balance of my card twice instead of once from my current account! I didnt even know card companies were able to do this.
This month, I had to call them 3 times to change my address (still not confident it's been updated) and they messed up a large payment of thousands which has apparently gone into a 'suspence account' because the telephony agent incorrectly entered my address!
Avoid at all costs!
The excuses are unbelievable and the customer service slow. You often hold for longer than 15-20 minutes when calling. They also 'forget' to send you the free Waitrose vouchers unless you chase them....last year the company printing the vouchers went bust so I didn't receive any reward vouchers for 6 months! It was only because I called them that they were eventually delivered to me.
A total joke and not to be trusted in my experience.

I think they're brill !0

are you in their PR team perhaps? I've had such a terrible time with them, and apparently so have other members of my family. We've all decided to cancel the cards - had enough!0

I think they're great too.
The problem is that you are dealing with HSBC over the phone. Probably in some far flung country where English isn't the first language.
Why don't you use their internet service and cut out the incompetence of other people? All features are available for self service. That way you can only blame yourself if you c*ck up.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Of course I am....are you in their anti-PR team ?
Seriously though, I'm sure every credit card provider under the sun has had a bad press on here and I prefer to go by my own experiences.0 -
The Partnership card is by far one of the best credit cards I have had. JL don't run it, it is HSBC, so as per the comment above it is usually the call centres in far flung places that cause the issues, not JLP. The voucher supplier did go out of business last year, but JL actually compensated customers with additional vouchers, depending on the amount they spent on their card each month, as a gesture of goodwill, which I was very grateful for. They also wrote to each and every customer advising why the vouchers were delayed. Use the on-line service, I've never had any problems.0

I did have one of the Partnership cards until a month or so ago. Only had a couple off issues last year with Direct Debit payments. They set a new instruction up and canx the old one, but canx both of them!
Apart from that no problems for years, only changed to get a better cashback deal. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0
