Cleaning limestone fire surround

Hi, I hope someone can help! I have a limestone fire surround which needs a good clean, however nothing I use seems to help!
When we got the chimney swept (despite trying to cover the surround) soot has got onto it and seems to be impossible to clean.
Any ideas?

I have tried scrubbing and srubbing with lots of different brushes and sponges but it is no use!
