PPI- claiming help

hi

Im sorry if this has been asked before but i wondered if anyone can advise.

I have 2 possibles for PPI claim (i think)

1. Topshop Card - took this out in 2005/6 had for a few years then paid if off, just found an old statement and had no idea i was paying ppi although it is a very small amount. I have just filled out the letter to ask for my T&C's but unsure who i send it to, is it GE money 6 Agar st london or do i have to send it to Topshop HQ?

2. Halifax CC - this i took out when i was a student this is well over 6 years ago i wasnt aware how much ppi was. i have looked as some of the old ppi payments and they are a small fortune. I still use this card should i ask for my old T&Cs as i no longer have them or is this pointless as card is old 10yrs + and im still using it?

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

thank you in advance
Melissa

    Hi Melissa and welcome.

In regards of Topshop, like Burton's store card, the bank for this was GE, my son pursued these and they passed this on to Santander who I understand deals with these store card ppi complaints now.

If you've a local Halifax Bank, call in and ask if they would kindly check the systems for you, with the account no longer active they may not have hold of this actual agreement as such, but if you requested for a Full SAR (Subject access Request), they must comply by 40 calendar days and send all the data they still hold on the account for at least the last 6 years, you enclose £10 cheque or postal order for this request, and there is a full SAR letter template on link below if you want to do this, this is optional of course.

Hopefully though, if you call into the branch, they will be kind enought to check the systems for you, if you bank with them, then you just give them the bank account number, and it will also save you money as well, as then you would not have to request for any data via SAR.

To make a reclaim you simply just complete the reclaim questionnaires below - step 3, keep copies for yourself as well, and they normally have 8 weeks, but some have been given extra time from the FSA due to backlogs, they will write to let you know if they need more time.
Send to the head or complaints dept of whoever set up your account, in regards of the Topshop, you can still write to GE, and they should forward it on to Santander, but you can always email or ring Santander who will confirm to you.

    Good luck.

Why would anyone sell PPI to a student. Did you have a permanent job as well for more than 12 months. This alone is evidence enough to uphold a mis-sold policy

    Hiya ;)
That's good then, so at least you know who to pursue now then, my son was successful by making a reclaim on a Burton's store card - PPI, he was a full time uni student and would not have been eligible at the time of making a claim, so they refunded all he paid plus interest, this was over a year ago, and dealt with by Santander.

If the card is still active then that is a great start and help, infact then if still active, you could write a simple letter, enclose £1 cheque or postal order, enclose the card number details on the letter, and request they send you a copy of the credit card agreement by 12 days, if any ppi, it would show on the agreement, good luck.:)
