PPI claims confusion!

hi! I have filed for a PPI claim on my halifax credit card through a company called " Claims Investors".I had initially contacted Halifax on my own by writing a complaint to them regarding the charges levied upon me but did not hear from them for the longest. Recently Halifax has sent me an offer on my claim which amounts to £650 on dues worth £2700. I do not wish to continue with the above mentioned claims company as I feel they are trying to rip me off with their hidden charges. my questions to you are :
a) do I need to inform the claims company about the settlement I wish to pursue with the bank directly?? can they hold me accountable for breach of contract as if i do not continue to reclaim my PPI with them?
2) Will Halifax close my account if the claims company proceeds with FOS? I can terminate my contract with claims company but they are charging me more than what i will receive in compensation.
Hope you guys can help me sort this out!
thanks!!
