What S&S ISA is best to invest

My husband and I are looking to invest this years allowance in S&S Isa. Which is the best to go for?
Also, we are looking to invest £12,000 for approx 2 years - any advice please?

The ISA is only the "wrapper". it is what's in them that is key. Generally shares or funds.

However, if it's only for 2 years a S&S ISA is not for you. It may grow in value, but it could equally drop by more than half, as per the recent credit crunch. Some think there could be another big fall. Then again maybe not.

No, you want to save, not invest. Cash ISA or fixed savings account.

S&S ISAs are very different from cash ISAs and there is no "best" buy. The reason behind that is that there are thosuands of funds that you can put inside the S&S wrapper and which funds you choose is down to your attitude to risk, how long you want to invest for, your tax status etc. There is no product that fits that for everybody.

One thing to remember is that investing in a S&S ISA is something for the long term - minimum 5 years and ideally more like at least 10 years.

Then you have to decide if you are able to make the fund choices yourself as that is what will make or lose your money. If you feel you are unable you may need to take advice from an IFA.

Whatever you decide to do, do not go to a bank for your S&S ISA. They are more expensive and poorer quality than what can be obtained elsewhere.

Is this in addition to the S&S ISA or is this the amount you want to invest in the S&S ISA?

For 2 years you do not want to go near a S&S ISA as it is far too short a timeframe. Basically you don't want to invest at all for 2 years.

Find a suitable savings account for this.
