Just a word of advice as well, when you are signing up on forums like these, and especially posting information like this - don't use the same username as other websites.

Google'd your name instead of another wgord by mistake, and I have pictures of every holiday you have been on and your whole family!

By mistake - yes I reckon. I think it makes you seem a little sad. I have nothing to hide. Reckon you might have! Get a life.

Yes I agree it could as well.

My OH does get involved up to a point in our finances but he would not remember exactly where our accounts and savings were or how much.He does tend to leave it all to me.

We have both joint accounts and accounts in our own names as sometimes it works out better like that financially.

    Yes, mine is the same.

I suggest the OP's friend now takes an interest and asks his wife if she can update him on what they have and haven't got. She might actually be pleased he's taking an interest at last!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • I don't see how this is so difficult. Just call the bank and tell them that you've not received the bank statement, ask them what the lost page said on it. Then when they say some money has been moved just ask where it went just tell him to act forgetful, it's his account they'll tell him. Might turn out she's been gambling it all away.

My husband has no idea where our money is. Occasionally I mention if I've opened a new account but I'm not sure he takes it in. However, if he was worried and wanted to know then I don't have anything to hide. He'd have to ask me though as my filing isn't up to scratch and it wouldnt be easy to figure it all out.

The OP's friend needs to be able to talk to his wife about this.

OP, Your friend needs to take a day off, and spend part of it in the bank, maybe with professional help, getting paper copies of all statements, account numbers that money was moved from and to and any other details that are pertinent, so then hopefully within a day or so he can piece this together himself. Then when he has an indication of what is happening he can move money himself to stop this continuing then confront her, as I fear if he confronts her and she has squirreled away enough, she may disappear with it.

The bank is the first place to start.
