Selling event ticket on ebay - help and advice please!

Hoping someone with experience can help, as although I sell on ebay from time to time, I've never bought or sold event tickets, and don't want to risk losing money or getting a lot of hassle! We have a ticket for the Iron Maiden concert at the O2 in August, as my son now can't go. We're not looking to make a profit, but just recoup some (preferably all!) of the outlay. Do we need to hide any details on the ticket image to protect ourselvs, and possible buyer, from fraud? What do we need to do in terms of Postage/tracking, if it's not picked up locally? Any advice much appreciated,

Thanks

    Cheers! Thanks for this - I've now listed it on there, and a local buy/sell board on f/b too - still interested in ebay too, though, if anyone can help, just because the audience is so much bigger!

    I would blank out the ticket number. Some companies, like love2shop, scrawl through ebay daily looking for their tickets/vouchers - and make a note of the ticket numbers etc. It will also stop your ticket being cloned.

    You will get a warning when you list it, asking you to make sure its ok to sell these tickets.

    The main thing with ebay is you MUST state the face value of the tickets.

    You need to post by a secure method, maybe special delivery - maybe someone else can advise you on royal mails policy when posting tickets.

    You are perfectly correct, special delivery is the only RM postage method suitable for these tickets and of course they must go to the address that paypal say is 'OK to send to'.

    I've seen this quoted a few times on this board - could you remind me why, please? I've checked Royal Mail's retail compensation policy for loss, and can only find, "Compensation for loss will not be payable:...j. where the item contains valuables (i.e. money and jewellery) unless posted using an appropriate Special Delivery™ service within the terms of this scheme;" - no mention of tickets having to go by Special Delivery? (ETA: Assuming ticket is worth less than £46 of course).

    To answer my own question :o

    I also found the following on the Royal Mail website:

    http://www2.royalmail.com/customer-service/personal-customers/sending-mail/sending-valuables-and-cash

    "The Royal Mail definition of money includes any:

    i) Coins & Bank notes of any currency that are legal tender at the time of posting;
    ii) Postal Orders, cheques and dividend warrants uncrossed and payable to bearer;
    iii) Unused postage and revenue stamps and National Insurance stamps; Exchequer bills, bills of exchange, promissory notes and credit notes; Bonds, bond coupons and any other investment certificates; and
    iv) Coupons, vouchers, tokens, cards, stamps and other documents that can be exchanged in whole or in part for money, goods or services."

    That'll be it.
