Very Basic Question on credit cards..

Sorry for the very basic nature of the question, however, I've always done by best to avoid credit cards.

I'm in the process of moving house and need a few purchases in the coming months. The best option for me is an interest free purchases card. I'm looking at the 15month M&S one.

My question is when does the 15 month period start? Day you get the card?, Day of yor purchase only, or 15 months start from each specific purchase?

From the day the account is opened.

Some CCs (eg MBNA) put the expiry date of offers on statements. Not sure about M&S. If not, it's best to phone them to be sure of the exact date.

All depends on your credit history, if you've never had a credit card before you may have to start lower down than the prime cards you're talking about.

I would start with your bank if your have a good relationship with them.

Normally it's when the CC company open the account.
That's usually before you get the card and not always communicated.
If in doubt ASK then.
