Tesco Bank debacle continues

After changing over to their own bank we had problems with my wifes Clubcard plus card (think of it as a debit card exclusive to Tesco).
So we ordered a new one,on arrival it needed activating but her existing security data had been either changed or lost, this necessitated a wait while they sent out a pin number to activate the card over the phone.
Finally after getting a pin and successfully activating the card,we find that the only way the card will work is to manually input the details (a time consuming process as they have to try the card three times before being able to input the data).
Thinking the NEW card must be faulty I rang Tesco to get a replacement card,AFTER A LENGTHY WAIT (I thought that had been resolved) I was told it is a systems issue that was waiting to be resolved but could not tell me when it might be!
You might think that this would have been tested 1st(you could not make it up).
