TW charge 3p/min for daytime calls with 6p connection.
TW charge 3p/min for evening calls with 6p connection.
TW charge 0p/min for weekend calls (up to 60 mins).

BT charge 3p/min for daytime calls with 3p connection.
BT charge 5.5p for evening calls up to 60 mins.
BT charge 5.5p for weekend calls up to 60 mins.

TW charge more for 0845, 0870, 0871, mobile and international numbers.

TW have rip-off costing inclusive calls packages, BT have not that great value for money inclusive calls packages.

As TW are charging you 3p per min for daytime and evening calls, then using 18185 is going to save you around 66% to call at those times, as they charge from a TW line 1p/min + 4p connection.

If you had a BT line then 18185 would cost 0p/min and 4p connection.

International and mobile calls are cheaper via 18185, though they daytime mobile rate is higher via a TW line.

With a BT line you have have free evening and weekend calls for no monthly fee via Primus Saver 2 option, and then use 18185 for daytime calls, mobile calls etc.

For over 5 years TW phone service has been poor value for money.

To save money, you are going to have to stop calling mobiles, premium rate numbers, 0845 and 0870 numbers. In fact on a TW line the best way to save money is not to call anyone.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • So going with 18185 i s the best option then??????????

Mobiles calls are the worst for my phone bills

There is a package which gives you 200 mins worth of calls to any numbers including mobiles excluding 09 numbers it is £20, you can get more minuites but i'm unsure of the cost, telewest are robbing barsweards, i have a mobile bar on my phone and i was still getting phone bills with £30 plus call charges a month, manliy for calls under 20p

I totally agree. Telewest haven't been competitive for years now. How many other landline providers can say they are more expensive than BT?

The answer is none (as far as I'm aware).

You could get itemised billing which I believe they charge for or are about to charge for now. Don't forget the £5 monthly fee for those not paying by direct debit.

For those still stuck on cable (NTL or Telewest), I'd recommend moving if you can but if not then you may reduce your bills by reading this. You wont get as cheap calls as what is available for those on a BT landline but its still cheaper than what cable charge.

That's a good link that bbb_uk recommends. I can personally vouch for the phone co-op via a cable line. Easy to use, no fuss, free itemised billing, 4.7p per call for up to an hour off peak, free itemised billing, no connection fee and reasonable call rates to 08 type numbers.

If you use the form via the WWF website, you may get £20 free calls...

I am currently using first telecom. They charge 1.6p/min peak, 1p/min off peak and 0.8p/min weekend. Connection fee 1.2p applies. Have worked great for me as I usually make short calls so phone co-op was not suitable. Also you get £10 quidco cashback!!
